Match Report: Stockbridge v Whitehill & Bordon FC
🏆 Hampshire Premier League – Tues 30th April 2025
Whitehill & Bordon FC endured a tough evening on the road as they were beaten 4-1 by Stockbridge FC under the lights at Stockbridge Recreation Ground. Despite a spirited effort and a goal from George Worman, the Stags couldn’t claw their way back after falling behind early.
The hosts started brightly and took the lead with a well-worked move, capitalising on some early defensive uncertainty. Stockbridge doubled their advantage not long after and added a third before the break, taking firm control of the match.
Whitehill & Bordon showed flashes of their attacking threat and got themselves back into the game just before half-time. George Worman rose above the defenders to head home a corner kick and reduce the deficit to 3-1, giving the Stags a glimmer of hope going into the second half.
However, any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Stockbridge scored a fourth midway through the second period. Despite pushing forward and continuing to work hard, the Stags couldn’t find a way back into the game.
Manager’s Comments:
“It was a disappointing result and we know we weren’t at our best. Credit to Stockbridge — they took their chances well. We’ve got to be stronger defensively and make sure we react better after setbacks. There’s still a lot of football to play, and we’ll be looking for a response this weekend.”
Thanks to everyone who made the journey to support the team.
