Whitehill & Bordon FC 1-1 Broughton FC

Whitehill & Bordon FC shared the points with Broughton FC at The Daly Ground in a hard-fought encounter, as the Stags continued their push on the pitch while important improvements began off it.

Supporters arriving at the ground will have noticed areas roped off this weekend as work officially began on the next phase of upgrades at The Daly Ground. With Goodyear Garden and Landscaping starting the installation of new pathways, hard standing for the future stand, and the foundations for turnstiles, the club is taking significant steps towards meeting FA ground grading requirements and preparing for the next level.

The club would like to thank supporters for their understanding while parts of the ground are temporarily restricted — these works are essential as Whitehill & Bordon continues building for the future.

On the pitch, the visitors started brightly and took the lead early in the first half to put the Stags on the back foot.

Whitehill responded well and gradually began to grow into the game. Midway through the half the hosts found the equaliser when Shayne Warren finished well to bring the scores level.

Broughton threatened to restore their advantage before the break, but goalkeeper Joe Choulerton produced an excellent save to keep the score at 1–1 at half-time.

The second half saw the Stags take control of the match, enjoying the majority of possession and pushing Broughton back for long spells. Whitehill created several promising opportunities and tested the visiting goalkeeper on a number of occasions, but despite the pressure the decisive second goal proved elusive.

In the end the sides had to settle for a point, though there were plenty of positives in Whitehill’s attacking play and second-half dominance.

With progress continuing both on the pitch and around The Daly Ground, the club remains firmly focused on building a team — and a home — ready for the next level.
