Whitehill & Bordon FC 2-5 Southsea Sports

Whitehill & Bordon FC fell to defeat at the Daly Ground, but the 2–5 scoreline didn’t reflect the balance of play or the effort shown across the 90 minutes.

The visitors made the perfect start, taking the lead inside the opening minutes to put the Stags immediately on the back foot. Despite the early setback, The Stags began to settle into the game, finding their rhythm and creating good openings. The reward came midway through the first half when Shayne Warren levelled the scores with a well-taken finish.

However, Southsea regained their advantage before the break, leaving the Stags trailing 1–2 at halftime despite a strong spell of possession and attacking intent.

After the restart, Whitehill & Bordon came out determined to turn things around. The work rate across the pitch was excellent, and the hosts were rewarded when Oli Graham rose highest to meet a cross and head home a superb goal to make it 2–3.

As the Stags pushed forward in search of another equaliser, gaps began to appear, and Southsea capitalised late on to extend their lead. The final whistle saw the visitors take the points, but the scoreline told only part of the story — this was a game full of commitment, hard work, and spells of real quality from Whitehill & Bordon.

Plenty of positives to take despite the result, with the focus now turning to the next fixture and a chance to bounce back.
