Match Report: Whitehill & Bordon FC 2-2 (4-3 Pens) Rushmoor CFC

🏆 ADFA Intermediate Cup Final – Saturday 10th May 2024

📍 EBB Stadium, Aldershot

Whitehill & Bordon FC were crowned ADFA Intermediate Cup Champions on Saturday afternoon after a dramatic penalty shootout win over Rushmoor CFC, following a thrilling 2-2 draw at Aldershot Town’s EBB Stadium.

The Stags fell behind in the first half as Rushmoor made the most of a fast start, taking the lead before the break. Despite the setback, Whitehill & Bordon came out fighting in the second half and turned the game on its head with a brilliant spell of football.

Shayne Warren levelled the score with a powerful header to ignite the comeback, and shortly after, Ciaran Judd fired home to give the Stags a deserved 2-1 lead. Rushmoor, however, found an equaliser late on to send the final to penalties and set up a nerve-shredding conclusion.

In the shootout, the Stags held their nerve. With composure and grit, they converted their spot-kicks and saw out the win to lift the trophy in front of their travelling fans. The celebrations said it all — a fantastic moment for the players, staff, and everyone connected to the club.

Manager’s Comments:

“I’m so proud of this group — they’ve worked incredibly hard all season and today they showed unbelievable heart. To go behind, respond the way we did, and then win it on penalties says everything about the character in this squad. This is for the whole club, and for every supporter who’s backed us all the way.”

Thank you to everyone who came and supported the lads at the EBB Stadium — your backing made all the difference.
